Text Box: Message From IG, Punjab          Through this order of the day on assumption of charge as the Provincial Police Officer, I want to spell out the vision, the mission, core values, and the priorities. The vision of the Punjab Police is to be professional, service-oriented and accountable. Our mission is to fight crime and win by providing dynamic and effective law enforcement. As members of Punjab Police force, we have to be more than just protectors of the life and property of public. We should be guardians of the people and friends to the community. We must be a service of tenacious individuals, bound by a common purpose to serve and go beyond the call of duty. Our motto to achieve the above priorities would be “Performance with Purpose” keeping this in view our operational and administrative priorities should be maintenance of peace and order, combat terrorism, sectarianism, eliminating kidnapping for ransom, internal accountability against corruption and misuse of authority, zero tolerance against violence / torture. The changing phenomenon of crime coupled with the growing sense of awareness among the masses has forced the Police to transform the organization in order to meet emerging challenges while upholding honour, dignity and human rights of the people. Kasur Police are in the process of adopting the concept of problem oriented policing, whereby the problems are identified in their formative phase and are addressed promptly with the help of citizens. The thrust of reforms should be aimed at establishing a police system, which is neutral, depoliticized, non authoritarian, accountable to community, professionally sound, responsive to the public at large and last, but not the least, an instrument of role of law. Public participation is essential in creating and maintaining a peaceful environment. Therefore, new strategy for police should aim at promoting an image of public friendly police.
